Nanotechnology coating to make EasyJet planes more efficient

Since Monday eight of EasyJet's planes are trialling a nanotechnology coating which it is hoped will increase fuel efficiency.
The coating is developed by Triple O Performance Solution. It has been used on US military aircraft for years. Very simply the coating gives the planes a slippery surface, reducing the build up of debris and thereby reducing drag and increasing fuel efficiency.
EasyJet are hoping for a 2% reduction in fuel consumption. If this is achieved the system will be rolled out to their whole fleet and could result in annual savings of GB£14m.
You can find out more about the technology on the Triple O website.
