my new favourite engineer

Not strictly library related, but here's an event i think should not be missed as part of the current Innovation Dublin 2011 . This thursday at 1pm the Dublin City Engineer Michael Philips will be giving a lecture Engineering the City. I'd recommend because i recently attended a walking tour he gave as part of the Open House Festival in Ocotber on Bridging the Liffey, - a fascinating afternoon tour of dublin's new bridges. Really interesting, insightful, he's highly informative, knows his subject well and delivered with a charming manner. Last seen on TV when he was wheeled out to talk about the Corporations response to the torrenial rain recently. If you can make it, i'd recommend it. ILAC central library and you have to book. All details on that link above, or ring 01-8734333, or email bernadette.cogan@dublincity.ie
